Hi everyone!  As a member of the Kilusan Art Collective I am offering discounted photo workshops in January and February.  Workshops are for beginners to intermediate levels and are for both small pocket cam and DSLR users.  Photoshop and full day and weekend  workshops also available!

(1) Beginners Workshops: “Learn to use your new Christmas toy”

a. Digital Point and Shoot Basics ($30.00):

2 hours

Learning your camera functions

Basic light control/flash use (learn: why one gets red-eye and how to prevent it; why sometimes your subject is too bright or too dark, etc.)

Basic composition techniques

b. Digital SLR Basics ($30.00):

2 hours

Learning your camera functions

Basic light control/flash use (learn: why one gets red-eye and how to prevent it; why sometimes your subject is too bright or too dark, etc.)

Basic composition techniques

About the advantages and disadvantages of using an SLR

(2) Full-Day Photography Workshop ($90.00):

How to make amazing photos using only your camera and natural light. The fundamentals of real-life photography will be discussed, from portraiture to event and documentary photography. I will also discuss basic use of a flash (both on-camera and external), but the focus will be on making images without a lot of extra equipment. This is NOT a studio photography course.

for point and shooters and SLR users

11am to 5pm, limited to 10 participants to maximize learning

Includes and advances upon topics from the Beginners workshop

Includes at least three hours of hands on shooting and photo critiquing (NOT included in “Basics” workshops)

REQUIREMENTS: digital camera

(3) Photoshop for photographers: “Clicking the Shutter is Only the Beginning”

a. Beginners ($30.00):

2 hours (using: Levels, Curves, Saturation and Colour tools, Sharpening, Text)

Fixing photos that are too dark/too bright

Fixing colour casts

Saturation and sharpening

Basic Black and White conversions

Adding basic text

REQUIREMENTS: laptop (& mouse) with Adobe Photoshop 7.0 (or higher), participants should also bring digital photo files for practice

b. Intermediate 1 ($30.00):

Participants are expected to be familiar with the following photoshop tools: Levels, Curves, Saturation and Colour tools, Sharpening, Text

2 hours (you will learn to use the following tools in conjunction with those listed above: Selection Tools, Layers, Channels, Burning/Dodging, Eraser, Feathering, Blur, Cloning)

Selectively adjusting individual elements in one image

Removing blemishes, whitening teeth and eyes

Black and White conversions using the Channel Mixer

REQUIREMENTS: laptop (& mouse) with Adobe Photoshop 7.0 (or higher), participants should also bring digital photo files for practice

c. Intermediate 2: Putting It all Together ($30.00)

No new tools will be introduced, the focus here will be on hands on practice and I will show some of my favourite creative techniques.

$30 for two hours

REQUIREMENTS: laptop (& mouse) with Adobe Photoshop 7.0 (or higher), participants should also bring digital photo files for practice

(4) Two Day Intensive Photography and Photoshop workshop ($200.00):

The focus is on making photos using only your camera and natural light. The fundamentals of real-life photography will be discussed, from portraiture to event and documentary photography. I will also discuss basic use of a flash (both on-camera and external), but the focus will be on making images without a lot of extra equipment. This is NOT a studio photography course.
